  1. Artwork before the 19th Century seemed to be very fancy high-end art that only wealthy people could commission. Artists focused on perspective, anatomy, realism, tradition, and spirituality. Art was also very decorative. Art began to change in the early to mid 19th Century. Artists like Matisse and Picasso were two of many that changed from tradition art. Henri Matisse's art was very primitive and unrealistic. He also used bold, unnatural colors in his landscape and portrait paintings. Pablo Picasso helped start Cubism which was very different from traditional art. Picasso focused on simple shapes and line and broke up the human figure in his paintings. I would consider this to be very different from traditional art.
